Imaging (Week 8)

We learned what brochures are and how significant are they for advertisement and we also learned what all elements do it contain. What should be the components for different parts of a brochure? We also had a brief discussion on the color scheme, how color plays an important role in making it more interesting. We also paid a little attention to color theory. Then what should be the inner component of it, how the orientation should be to make it easier and more informative at the same time. And what all should be the information that should be in the last. Another important thing was the use of infographics to make it more informative. This session was briefly about this only.

Imaging (Week 7)

I think it was our time to apply what we had learned so far. So some of the mistakes I improved in my final product are:-
1) Earlier font size was not appropriate in my last booklet, now I worked on it.
2) The layout was also not proper, so I improved it.
3) The placement of title and content.
4) Worked on the front cover, firstly the text was near to the edge. This time, I gave enough breathing space to it.
5) Also focused on the print settings this time because that was the main issue I faced last time.

Imaging (Week 6)

This week we worked on skills part of Indesign that how can we use different tools to make different and desired output. Not focusing much on the creative part of it we have to make our documentation layout in Indesign. It was a great exercise to explore the setup, layout, and tools of Indesign because this time we just have to create the same elements as we already use in our presentations. Although it took time to create the layout but after that, it was easy to place the content in it. So I think it is a better option for presentations though it was hard for me to export it as presentation. I don’t know whether we could export a ppt file from it or not. So this was a challenge for me.

Imaging (Week 5)

So this week we applied what we learned in Indesign, We made a book on Greek Gods. In which we have to remember some key points like fonts that we are using, font size, layout, the orientation of picture and text together and also how it will convey the mood of the writing. We learned about print booklet feature in Indesign, and what should be the setup setting for a perfect print ready pdf. We also selected our possible formats for the final booklet on the basis of the combination of different text and image layouts. We kept some options because we don’t know what will be our end product of the seminar.

Sustainability Systems (Week 8)

Starting off our new project with some new topics to study on, so our class started with a brief introduction to the project. Our topic for project 2 is air quality. It started with a local survey to the nearby places where we then had to talk to people about the air quality of the locality. We found that people were satisfied with the quality of air in Mumbai. We also found that one of the major reason of air pollution is smoking, according to the areas that we observed. And another cause of pollution was the use of carbon incense sticks by the shopkeepers.

Sustainability Systems (Week 7)

So after the case study, we found that problems related to adulteration, process, and expiry are common on every level whether its local level, a national or international country like Bangladesh. So we have to find some solutions to it, it can be anything from a proposal to the government to a business plan. So to its an obvious thing that we can’t solve the dairy problem directly; so we decided to put a proposal in front of the consumer court and FSSAI; who looks into these matters, so our proposals are mentioned below

SUGGESTIONS OR PROPOSALS
Proposal for Consumer Court:
They can add a tab in their site of registering a problem at the starting
Log in
Firstly, one has to choose between a supermarket or local milkman
If the supermarket, then they have to enter the company and then the barcode of the product and if local milkman, then they have to enter the address.
Next page, there will be tabs of problems related to expiry date, process, adulteration, and other problems.
Then one has to enter their problem in the respective tabs.
Now let’s take an example, on every 100 expiry problems the license of the company will be ceased for a week and same for if there are 200 problems related to the process, 75 problems of adulteration and such system for different problems. This system can be created or managed by FSSAI.
The company will then try to maintain their quality. Then they will also give the franchise to limited and trusted people because there are many problems where the franchise was at fault but its companies fault that they gave the franchise to them without proper research.
Proposal to FSSAI:
There should be licensing process for milkmen as we have our process of driving license.
One of the issue we found while researching on local milkman are that they don’t have enough knowledge about dairy farming so if they need to continue dairy farming they will need a license for which they have to study the basics of dairy farming. The licensed milkman will be a genuine one. This will solve many of the problems.

Integrtaive Studio (Week 7)

This week, we started to make illustration without pencils or any other medium. The only medium we could use is paper, and that was the challenge to make everything with paper without using any color other than white. So we have to make it with paper cut, and then convert it into a tunnel box. We have to convert each illustration into a single color using paper so we made illustrations in such a way that one could see what we want to tell with the help of it. It was a difficult job and then, when I made my final model without making a box prototype, I faced the consequences of not following the design process. My end outcome was looking too empty, so I figured out some solution for it but didn’t implement it. First, to extend the 2nd and 3rd layers on both sides with some sensible content or I can change the orientation of the layer be bringing the 4th layer at 2nd which could hide empty space inside.

Integrative Studio (Week 6)

This week, we represented our seminar essays on the city into a 2d illustration. It was hard to represent all the elements of those six chapters in one illustration because it should have a visual language also, it can’t be a collage of elements. And then we have to extract it into six different layers, representing each chapter. So after finalizing an illustration, then it was easy to break it down into layers because it comprised of those six layers only. But I remembered this time to not make it too complex neither to make it too literal.

These are my 3 representation of the city. We finalized the top left one.

These are the extracted layers.

Integrative Seminar (Week 6)

So this week I worked on my other concepts.

City of Timeline

A city with paths, showing different aspects of time and evolution. Shows the monochrome of the time and the contrast of the time at the same time. Showing the classic part of time and modern time also. It does have the wrinkles of the trees and enthusiasm of plants also. The city with rusted pillars at the one end and shining silver spoons at the other. It also has past telling buildings and on the other side also have future building cabins. This city tells a story about generations and how they evolved as human at the same time looking at the present condition, how they are evolving from humans to something that the only future has its evidence.

City of Umbrella

From whites to browns, low to high, monochrome to vibrant, from touching of lips(Marathi) to they being apart (English), this city is developing with all of this diversities. The overall view of the city was in different colors lying under a single shade. Whether it’s the heights that lying in the whites or the depth lying in the dark, whether its the group of stars or the single star enlighting itself, at the time they all travel on the same track. The monochrome architecture and the modern tech lay on the same piece of ground. This is the beauty of the city that all of them rest under the same umbrella.

City of Heights

The city with a white view to a brown and then dark. One side, where the air is filling up the lungs of humans and birds at the other way some of the worms and people are just extracting the oxygen from the ground. There are also some which lay in the yellows, trying to balance their lives with some light from the whites and some oxygen from the darks. There is a fluctuation in the heights of wishes, dreams, and possibilities, they all lay in the whites and yellows depending on their views. The funny part about the city is that they all walk and starts with the same value.

City of Contrast

With some part in shade, covering the sun, there is a place. Where shade speaks of livelihood and light speaks of greediness. Shade is dreaming of coming to the light, but it doesn’t know it’s not about getting enlighted, it’s about enlighting others. It’s shade, but it’s in the cool, and there is light which firing all of it to show it’s significance. In the shade, all of us can see that small light of any glow and reflection; but in the light, individuals are trying to glow more and more to prove themselves neglecting the coldness of shade. So this is how a slum nearby the heights of nothing is proving their significance by just lighting their lamps.

The Journey

Starting before the sun, walking in the dark waiting for a stream to take me to the higher storm, where we all will suffer from the pressure to survive, to signify our existence. Trying to breathe but they will hold your lungs, trying to grip your roots but they will pull them up to the extremes. Hold up in the stream; you lose, and you will be dead. Just hold up to the destination where you can breathe the relief. Others pushing you up to spread their branches but don’t let them, they will wrap you and not let you breathe, this how a journey feels.
