Integrative Studio (week 4)

How life change is also directly proportional to the view of oneself towards himself and to its environment.
Our activity is to make the 3D form of the 2D abstract we made in week 3. Please do read the last blog (integrative studio week 3) or you will not understand further. There are so many ways to look at the same thing. A view can change the situation drastically. As we made 3D of that 2D’s then, we realized that there are lot more possibilities to make a single 2D in multiple ways. The meaning was also changing as we were changing the view because it was no more the same vision. And there are so many possibilities to convert a single 2D into 3D because so many 3Ds have the same 2D so vision is also important for a design. What you look is what you perceive so one should see a situation from different views to get a smart solution to it. This is how design works. So some of the 3D solutions I come up with of my 2D metaphors is
1) The heartbeat of the Stethoscope:- stethoscope don’t have its own heartbeat. Its the heartbeat of the living organism. So it’s somehow related to me because I am having a personality that I can’t make decisions properly, kind of confused type of person. So some of the decisions are not it’s the thought of other person, then polished, twisted and presented by me in my voice. So this model and drawing are showing crossing of so many suggestions and thoughts then coming up to a point by mixing of two thoughts, like upgrading them and the curved lines are showing the twists in the decisions it will not be too direct.IMG_20180830_122147652
2) Sarcasm of the news:- news nowadays is more sarcastic than to be on target they just not highlight the main topic instead of that they will highlight some gossip of the month, not even of the day. They will not give importance to a worthy news. I am a bit like this only sometimes I just don’t highlight the topic instead of that i think of some other unusual and unwanted things. Tried to depict this from the model which is showing that targeting an unusual thing instead of the main course and not highlighting it as much as it needs.IMG_20180830_074311887
3) As volatile as a Deo:- A Deo bottle is hard from outside and gas inside it is volatile. So enclosed from outside, hard, compact, simple from outside but very free from inside because inside the bottle the particle has the liberty to move also too, they are also highly complex. So I am so related to this metaphor because I am also like simple from outside but a lot goes into my mind every time, I am also a bit complex from the inside. A person in deep thoughts.IMG_20180830_122106348

4) Pluto of the solar system:- as Pluto is lost from the solar system. I am a person which always be there in deep thoughts and mostly not related to the environment. The thoughts which are off track, no use for me in the situation. So many time I get lost in the new world leaving my circumstances and beyond its limit for no use.IMG_20180830_074447795
5) Light of the moon:- Moon don’t have its own light enlight himself, the sun who provides it the shine. Same related to me, there are so many people supporting me, enlighting me with their light. I am that kind of person who needs guidance, wants somebody to guide me.IMG_20180830_122126304
6) As sincere as AIB:- people do say me that I am too sincere about everything but the thing is I am not that sincere. I am too careless with myself and the surroundings. It totally depends on my mood, but I pretend to be serious because people want me to be serious. Its all about circumstances which changes you.IMG_20180830_074217898
7) The eye of ‘The Flash’:- actually I want to indicate the flash character of D.C. His eyes spark like a thunder when he runs. I like me like that, I love speed in my life, I always try to be energetic, in the worse situation too. I like that joy of the thunder. It looks like you are releasing a wave of energy and positivity. Sometimes I also have the same feeling.IMG_20180830_122136400
8) The air of the atmosphere:- As air is always busy with providing life to the organism. I also love being busy with stuff no matter what helping myself or other. But I love to be busy other than resting when too tired of working.IMG_20180830_074012771
9) As wise as an owl:- for me, judgment is not only about profit or loss of me. Its more about nobody else gets hurt with that judgment. I think I am because I will never judge a person what he was, will see his present status. I also try to be good to everyone no matter what how they are to me. You never know they are right or you. I can be the one to be hated for something, this gives you a chance to improve.IMG_20180830_074110577
10) As true as Ramayana:- Its a mythology. It can be true or not for somebody. As I am one never how true I am because for me speaking is much harder than a lie. But a lie comes up with more lies it’s still an easy path for me but for me, the truth is always at the top as I also believe in truth. The smaller curl shows the complexity of truth and the bigger curve shows the lie with further lies as branches the dot at the top shows the truth and the lower dot shows the lie. Integrative Seminar (week 4)

Life changes as we change and we also change as life changes. This we all know that nothing is stable in today’s world.
We may have many changes in our life some may be positive and healthy changes, and some will be not. There will be effects also for those changes may be positive or negative. Everyone likes to be in a state of equilibrium. We don’t like unwanted variations. We are reading Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka to get a sense of how to abstractly define yourself. Here is the link if you want to know more about the book https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Metamorphosis.
It’s a short story about a person who unwantedly changes into an insect. And it’s about what problems he faces and what changes he had in his life. How his lifestyle changed, the family changed, and he himself got changed. It’s also about how creatively he defined himself and his life. One thing which I understood from that story till now is that life must go on facing the challenges and be accepting the changes. He suffered each and every hurdle he got till now. Its also shows us the fantastic use of metaphors.

Integrative Studio (week 3)

What a person thinks of himself is directly related to how he behaves. To be confident and successful one should be aware of his weakness and strengths. So one should know ” Who am I” to live a comfortable and sound life.
If somebody will ask me to define myself, it will be a bit easier for me than to describe myself with the help of objects and their properties. Like metaphors, if somebody will ask you to state yourself with the help of metaphors. It will be tough and if you also have to visualize those metaphors than it will be more challenging. So our assignment for week 3 was to define “Who am I” with the help of metaphors and also want to convert them into 2D abstract forms. It was important that the 2D abstract should justify your expression and the metaphor we were using. It was tough to find a balance between both of them but that’s the exercise was about. We explored each and every bit of us to find a balanced and suitable metaphor for ourselves and for me it’s tough to state or describe myself. I am so confused about myself, I realized it. This tells us design starts with you.

Space and Materiality (week 4)

How a person can a person show what he can’t tell or don’t want to express by words. There are so many feelings that we can’t express through words. So what will be the other ways to state them.
I think visually because communicating through visuals are much more powerful than words. It can be depicted directly by drawing undeviatingly what you want to communicate or some people choose indirect ways like abstractions. Abstractions express different feelings to different persons. For some, a visual can be positive but for some, the same vision can be negative. So its a task to convey the same feelings to different people through abstraction. That was our assignment to convert our handgrips which I talked about in my last Space and Materiality (week 3) into a 2d abstract. It’s challenging for us to convey the right message to all of them without presenting the actual message. We have to present the hand grips into abstract form. Mind goes for a walk when we start thinking because then you have to think about each and every aspect of the situation. It’s hard to make the meaning available to all kind of people. Every person has a different perspective on the same thing. It was a challenge for us. A designer should know how to express himself without getting too direct or in a creative way.

Integrative Seminar (week 3)

How can we characterize ourselves? We can tell them directly by describing your characteristics and hobbies. If I have to explain myself some of the points that I will put in front of you will be that I am a simple person, speaks too much, straightforward, little bit self-confident, and reflects too much. These are some basic opinions one have about me if he meets me once or he knows me. We were told to portray ourselves in something other than direct characters. We also played with metaphors. It was a challenging task to do. The question of the class was “Who am I”. So some of the metaphors I used for myself were ‘eye of the flash’, ‘sarcasm of the news’ and much more. So I tried to define myself using my caricature. My mouth is bigger than real to show mine over speech and straightforwardness. My head is also larger to show my overthinking. The smile on the face shows fun and light nature. Also having that confidence on my face. This was my first try to digital painting and caricature making.Print

Space and Materiality (week 3)

In this upgrading world, we have many upcoming technologies that will make our life more simple. One of the well-known physics is Haptics. It’s the science of touch, a connection between two things. When we touch, grip, hold etc. a particular object it has a certain texture and feels. We can distinguish objects by their grips, texture, method to hold and much more relevant to touch. There are many things we do with the help of touch, sene and hold. Haptics is just going to another level where we create the sense of touch without actually touching the object. We have a lot of touch or grips. We just explored some interesting grips such as the accelerator of the bike, rotating a screwdriver, carrying a bag or basket, holding a phone, pressing a thumb pin, holding a ball, pushing a table, holding a spoon, pulling a chain and many more. They all need different hand postures to grip them to perform them. Haptics in near future will give us some mind-blowing and easy access to these things. Some of the glimpses you can have on youtube here is a link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IhQnWb44zk

Drawing (week 2)

A designer should know how to sell his idea and to sell his concept. He has to put up his purpose in front of the public. One of the fastest ways is by visual interpretation. If you also work in a design firm, you first have to explain the idea to your colleagues and seniors. To make them clear about what you want, you have to interpret your idea. For exploration and to tell your designs at an elementary level, you have to tell them by a rough basic sketch called a doodle. In which it has just basic and main elements to sense what is there on the mind of the maker. So I am also traversing the same stage of exploration, struggling with my own doodle to make them more communicative. They are fast sketches to just record the information. So we were wandering on the street to designate the streets in just 5 min. I am having some of my fast doodles which I made while on the streets and stations of Mumbai. It was a challenge to doodle not in a comfortable but in a such a dramatic situation where people were passing by and you couldn’t even ask them to pause for a minute or two and you have to record them. These are some of my doodles.

Strategy with Gaming (week 2)

Gaming teaches us teamwork which is essential not only in games but also in daily life. We often face some points in life in which we have to work in a team. One should have the experience to work in an organization. Designing also have many group projects so one should have the habit of teamwork.
We played Code Name which is a team based game. If you want to know about the game then, click on the link https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/178900/codenames. This game teaches us that one should have the communication with his teammates. We faced lots of problems while communicating with the spymaster. This game also tested our logical mind. As the spymaster has a logical connection with the spy and we also wanted to guess that logic. One should also have a good vocabulary to guess the connections. Spymaster should also give a simple clue which can connect to multiple words at a time. And if the teammates guess the wrong word it will be a problem for them and points for another team, even a victory. So mindset should be the same to conquer the game. This is how teamwork can help you build up your game.

Sci-Fi (week 2)

Sci-Fi is too old it is possible that some of our elders were an immense admirer of science fiction. What are the things which make us watch the sci-fi? I think the story it is one of the foremost thing needed for any movie. It’s not only about sci-fi, every comic or movie requires a good storyline to work on. Secondly, for a sci-fi movie characters are the most attracting feature. Kids usually love a movie because of the hero and its superpower. A kid always sees himself as his favorite character and admire his powers as his own. One of the popular trends is parodies of famous movies. As Spaceballs parody of The Star Wars was as loved as Star Wars. It was an entertaining movie which made the audience laugh. So parodies are also one of the concepts for stories in which u have to just mold a story into an interesting one. The parodies don’t need powerful character but it needs an attractive one to hold up the movie. So one should have the clear sense of the sci-fi to make a start his journey in it. A parody also can be a disaster if not performed properly. So the story writer should have a clear and distinct sense to make an outstanding piece of script. Sci-Fi is a typical form of writing because it’s a combination of technical and imaginary platforms. So one should make a sci-fi which is technically digestible with out of the box imagination.

Integrative Studio (week 2)

Can we know about a person by just meeting him once? I think we can not, even remembering his name will be difficult for us in just a meet. We can perceive somethings from that but not sufficiently. What if every person carries a name batch with himself. I know it sounds awkward but what if it can be fun. One of the challenges we face in the integrative studio (week 2). We have to make a batch showing our name with the help of lines and dots, and this was a challenge. It seems weird to listen with the help of dots and lines one has to tell their personality and it is a tough job to do. It just makes you insane to show you with the help of not even words, with the help of lines and dots. As I am a little bit-tech type person, sorted from outside but confused from inside and my thoughts are like an unsolved puzzle, not connected to each other. I also think I am focused on my targets. So I designed a name batch for myself in which dots are showing my unsortedness and lines are showing that I am straightforward. Its perspective view is to show my focused life. I used a tie to determine my formal behavior. IMG_20180812_141406328_LL
