Time (Week 7)

This week we gave time a new face with the help of sound. Now we incorporated still time with moving time with a supporting component that is sound also showing the movement of time. I mentioned sound as a supporting component because although the video was conveying a message without sound also but; as I added sound, it added to the meaning of it. As the tempo changes, it amplifies the emotions also. It also helped me to give the video a certain flow. So by these phases of the project, we learned how we can show time with still images, by moving videos and how sound can be another aspect of time, as it adds to the time.

Drawing (week 6)

We explored 3d in a new way which was perspective. Perspective is the 2d representation of 3d objects, how they appear to us in real can be drawn with this technique, we learned to sketch the interior spaces relatively to how they seemed to us. It is a relative quantity based on the distance of you and the object and also on the height of the vision. Horizon line is the height of the eyesight. When we look at the opposite edges of the object, it seems to merge at a point, when extended to a long distance. So the point where the meet is called vanishing point. Drawing is more about visual representation, so this is what we learned represented through sketches. You can have a short glimpse of what I want to say

Imaging (week 2)

Photoshop is a powerful tool to digitally express your emotions and ideations. Many of the digital artist, designers, and photographers use photoshop for their professional lives.
Our task was to ideate the ‘Panchtatva’ ( elements of life) using abstract. So after the study of the colors of the ‘Panchtatvas’ that are space, air, earth, water, and fire. I imagined them like this panchtatva

  1. Water
  2. Earth
  3. Space
  4. Sky
  5. Fire

Integrative Seminar (week 2)

Every one of us has some beautiful moment in our life which changed our lives so. Some of us have words to convey their emotions but some can’t.
This is what I feel like when I have to convey my emotions, I can’t put them in words. I love photography so I can connect to emotions easily but can’t communicate it through words instead of it can conduct it through photographs. So this is how conveyed my sensations through photographs and writing.

Years of Maturity

I was a very immature person sometimes back like can’t even take small decisions without the help of anybody. I always needed the help of others to make a decision. I am also too emotional, that’s why I think I can connect to my pictures.
Last three years changed me drastically, now I am a bit mature compared to my past. I can’t say I am a proper mature person but a little bit improved. Some of the things changed me drastically are plotted into some moments. Three years back, when I first visited Mumbai, I visited Elephanta Caves. There I clicked the landscape having the building and sun. It was sunny and humid but when the air is touching the sweaty body, it was too relieving. When I first saw the sun from Gateway of India it was too bothersome. Then we reached the Elephanta caves, from where the sun was looking like as big as its reached the Earth. The rays were soaking us. That day I realized if you shine your rays will enlight others too. For some time you can be harsh to someone but u should have a bright personality. I think this was my first step toward maturation.
My 12th exams were going on and the festival of ‘Holi’ was in between, just before the physics exam. For the safety reasons and studies, I was not playing Holi. Even not studied, was just scrolling my Instagram page. My father called me and asked me to click some pictures of them and that’s the only thing I never deny. Just was clicking some pictures and I noticed that they were behaving oddly. Then I came to know that they all were having ‘bhaang’ ( a drink which disturbs your mind for sometimes and exaggerates the emotions, if you are happy you will be too happy). They all were laughing then I observed that it’s not necessary that something good has to happen to make you happy.
A year back, we were collecting vote for our coaching director for the best teacher organized by L.P.U. It was nearly 10:30 p.m. and we all were exhausted and after collecting votes we were just restoring some energy. Then we just clicked some selfies and we were happy though we were tired and not completed our target. Nobody was in good mood but yet that moment made us laugh. That made me realize that a positive environment with positive people can cheer you up in worse condition.
A few months back when I was at C.V. garden with my friends, clicking some photographs. It was a winter morning, nearly 8:00, we were searching for something unusual. Then I saw this baby monkey, it was trying or learning to jump from one branch to another. It was having fun, then at this moment it jumped from a branch to the top of a pole he looked up with a noble face. Then that made me realize that it’s not about strength, not about size even not about an experience when you try hard to get something. After that, I realized never quit, work hard, even harder.
Sometimes we face a while which changes your heart, your mentality and the perspective of certain things. I had many, one of them was when I was at the streets to capture it. There I saw a lady who was sitting alone in the whole market with a vegetable cart with her. I thought how rude it is that an old lady is vending vegetables. Nobody was there to assist her, to talk to her, she was alone in a busy market. I think nowadays, old people don’t have the company. They only have company in their age group but she was not having that too. I learned one thing that day, nobody is permanent to you. One should be nice to everybody and should have relations with most of them from them some will be good and from them, u can have some who will actually help when you will need them. So search for quality, not quantity.
These things made me more mature than past. I am glad I am having the glimpse of these moments

Integrative Studio (week 1)

What I understood by far is it’s about how critically u can think.
We have plenty of feelings related to a moment, thing, or a person. Some of them are good and some of them are not so good. So are we capable of expressing them? Can we find an appropriate expression for a situation? Can we tell the exact emotion that we sense? It’s difficult to convey the emotions u sense or u sensed. And when we have to communicate it through design it’s a lot more complicated. Colour is a prime factor to express the emotions. Without colours, it’s a bit playful. A set of lines can express a emotion. A meaning of dots can change relative to their density but the most interesting part is to see how it alters. The weight of line can also make a drastic change to its meaning. Sometimes a pattern can have a deep sense secreted in it. Sometimes a smudged line can also make a difference to your expression. As our task was to derive some emotions from multiple situations and express them through lines and dots. Firstly, it was troublesome to find proper emotions and then it was difficult to display them through lines and dots. The situations were as follows:-
1) state of mind in the morning
2) your happy place
3) image of ISDI
4) view from my window
5) highlights of the journey to school on that day
6) hometown
I brought up with many solutions to it but it took lots of time for it. This exercise indeed opened up our mind and some of the possible outcomes I came out with, are mention below:-

Space and Materiality ( week 1)

Space and materiality are something looks simple to us, but its way beyond to it. Space to me is something that we can use for the implementation of our project. It can be the artboard of illustrator for a graphic designer or a room for an interior designer, so different people have different space to work with and materiality is all about how we use a material to its optimum to fill up our purpose.
We often scribble our ideas on the back of our notebook, so that’s the space for us. So precisely a designer can work with any of it, starting of scribbling in your notebook to decorating the interior of a ship and lot more.Don’t want to be specific it could be anything from a point of view of a designer. So a designer should know how to deal with space and present his design in the given space. Different designer deal with different space, for a jewelry designer he have to put it around a finger with aesthetics in it and an automobile designer have to manage a space for making a private jet or something relatable to that size. So both have different size of space and both have to deal with it and they should know how to use it at its best.

While designing something, material selection is important because many things do matter when it’s about a design like space, weather conditions, aesthetics, texture, availability, value, environment and much more. So material selection should be smart enough to hold up the design so that it doesn’t come up as a disaster. A designer will not design a dress of wool for a place near the equator or automobile designer can’t design a plastic body car to run on the road, they both will end up as a horrible failure. And we also can’t use a silver wiring in our home, although silver is a better conductor of electricity than copper and aluminum wires, it’s neither financially correct nor technically sounds right. Different artists use different types of paper or canvas to enhance their artwork and it really helps them. And different artists have specialization in different medium.
The condition of material also depends because different forms can have different impact on the design and have different use. A material can be used in different forms at different places. Like copper can be used as a wire also and it also used for making utensils. So we have plenty of things to think about while choosing a material for a design. So to make your design successful, we have to choose the material wisely and smartly.
