This week we explored those links that were given by the faculty for videos. There was a large variety of emotions and technicalities. So, it was a bit hard to choose whether the video should show the emotion of the time or the technicalities of the time. It can be the balance of both also but I was confused, that can time be technical and emotional at the same time. But as I jumped into it, I realized in my case technical portion is overpowering the emotional side of time but it,s not same for all the people who look at it, for some it can be more emotional than technical. This week I learned that time is different for everyone depends upon their perspective. It can also depend upon the mental phase of that person.

So this week a new challenge came in. We discussed the timeline with the faculty, and then they disrupted the timeline by just removing the links from it. So this was something challenging for us because now we have to use clippings from the internet, and incorporate those remaining photographs with them and give them a whole new identity without losing the concept. After the links were removed, the time changed according to the concept so now by adding the videos we have to fill the gaps and make a parallel option of the same concept. After removing the links, there was a possibility to rearrange the remaining photographs and make a new story out of it. So this can show the flexible nature of time.

This week we worked on our three major problems which are expiry date of dairy products, process related problems in dairy, and adulteration problem. We did this case study in three level
1.) Local ( Local Milkman)
2.) National (Amul)
3.) International (Bangladesh)
and mainly studied these three problems.

So this week was about the micro level survey that was within home and neighbors and locality survey which was at a bigger level. It was a nice experience to interact with people and to learn something new and interesting. People told us about the problems they are facing regarding dairy products.

Burials in Egypt
It is really interesting how different civilizations had their own unique way of burial systems. I think Egypt was having the most distinct way of burial system in all the civilizations. It used to take them 70 days for the whole process of burial. They also believed in life after death, but they had a proper way to decide whether a person would live the afterlife or not. But for me, the most curious portion in all civilizations was why they believed in life after death. They developed the art of mummification in 2600BC. The dead body was brought to the Embalmer who wore the mask of Anubis (the Egyptian god of mummification and afterlife). The body was cleaned, all the inner parts were removed to embalmed separately. These organs were placed in an individual container called ‘Canopic jars.’ The brain was seen as having no use and was removed from the skull through the nose using a metal hook. According to me they only believed in physical power thats why they thought there was no use of the brain. The heart was removed from the body and wrapped in linen and replaced in the chest. Egyptians believed the heart to be the center of wisdom and good deeds. The body was then packed and covered with a powdery substance called Natron. Then stuffed with resin to maintain the body shape. then the body was carefully wrapped in the strips of linen. Many everyday items used to bury with them for their comfortable afterlife. Things like food, drink, clothing, utensils, and even servants were buried with them.
For both Egyptians and Royalty, sacred spells from the work known as the Egyptian Book of the Dead were recited in order to direct the soul toward the hall of truth and the judgment of the great god ‘Orisis.’ Orisis would then weight the heart of the deceased against the White feather of Ma’at (truth and harmony) and if one’s heart was found lighter than the feather, one was given passage to the field of Reeds, the Egyptian paradise which was an eternal mirror image of one’s life of Earth. If one’s heart was found to be heavier than the feather of Ma’at, however, it was thrown on the floor where it was eaten by the god Amenti (also known as Amut) and the soul of the individual then ceased to exist. They believed that there forever existence was their pride.

This week we read about Greece, there were a lot of things that was going on at that time. According to me, there was a lot of dramatic part to it also that really caught my eye. So many Greek gods were there and how Greek recorded them was something amazing also. How they were described by writers was something that can engage a person to read about them who is even a little bit interested in history, like me. Starting from Mycenaean then The Dark Ages, further to Archaic period, then Classical and then Hellenistic Period a lot happened that is worth mentioning. Starting of Olympics, Grecco Persian war, then Alexander painting the globe with its color. They Also recorded all of this in a very aesthetic and descriptive way. About each autonomous city-states, they have a sufficient amount of documents to tell about them. Except for the Spartans who were interested in war, remaining Greece had a very creative background that we can see by their detailed and beautiful architectures and sculptures.

So this week we did the survey of ISDI on the topic dairy Industry. So it was a helpful task to collect some facts and also for the feedback. It also helps us in focusing on the major problem first.

This week we represented our illustration in front of the faculty and classmates, and then they gave their feedback. It was interesting, how everyone was having a different perspective on a single illustration. So the feedback I got was definitely helpful for me. So the things I have to work on are that they are too literal to communicate, the visual language is missing, and illustrations are communicating that I want to. At the other side, I was successful to collaborate the elements in the illustration of Argia. I think that giving and taking feedback increases the knowledge of the person. As we also discussed some intense topics that I don’t think we did before.

So this week we have to convert our 4*4 illustration into 8*8, and we have to work on the gaps which we discussed. So the things on which I have to work is that they are too literal to communicate what is there in the book, but the text is not that literal. It’s like a dream which Calvino tried to portray in his lines. And they were too rough to communicate because of that roughness; there were some elements that were not coming out as I wanted to, or as I imagined. So I made some changes in the Argia to make it more descriptive in its visual language. I collaborated the elements of three illustrations into one. I also used ink and microns, to change the weight of the stroke to show flow and hierarchy in components.

The City of Milky Way

With the dark, a route full of flaws in it is driving all over the city. With a pair of stars riding through them, some of them are single also. Some constant glowing celestial bodies standing on both side of the milky way to show moving stars the way. Some of them are passing by in a rush as they are near to get to the other end of the universe and some of them are just flowing with the flow of the night feeling the cold and singing wind. Sometimes, many of the stars get lost into the milky way have never been seen again. The path and the moving lights add to the beauty of time; one can see that and can get lost in the beauty of it. But as the time passes the stars get lost in the more effective glow. And that Milkyway converts into a street and roads with metal boxes marching in a most indisciplined way.
